There is a some truth in this article, but it left me frustrated. There are too many fat people who will say hey damned if I do, Damned if I don’t.
Instead of this little story how ‘bout a positive article on the benefits of exercise and diet.

Just skimmed the intro, why isn't it "Why Expensive Complicated Gimicky Exercise Won't Make You Thinner". Sheesh, buy a jumpope.
ReplyDeleteThe real cynic in me says that the study cited was based on different levels of working with a personal trainer, a person who by nature has an interest in keeping your gains modest so you continue to purchase their services.
That article frustrated me too. It downplays the influence of diet for the sake of a sensationalized headline. It's almost like the article is saying that you needn't bother exercising because by doing so you are taking away your ability to eat properly. That's just hogwash. It's people being lazy, believing the hype that they can't stick to a diet. Well, we are all proof that you can!
ReplyDeleteSeriously.
Thanks for the link, btw.
Quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever read.
ReplyDeleteMan, I hate Time. I used to think they were reliable, but then I sat down to actually read an article of theirs; on the cover it was something like, "why Detroit should get a bailout" or some bullshit, and I read it and it was basically a sob-story pulling in guilt for the poor families who got their money from parents working for GM and whatnot suffering from the recession.
ReplyDeleteLook, man, this sucks, but it's no reason why we should give money to those assholes at GM.
Regardless, Time is absolute shite.
Just another health article in which the headline is tweaked to make fitness seem mysterious and counterintuitive. The story reads "Exercise doesn't make you thinner!" when the actual finding was, "Exercise without a corresponding attention to diet doesn't make you thinner"
ReplyDeleteIs that a huge surprise to anybody? I guess it wouldn't sell many crappy Time magazines.
